Weather is killing my skin like mad.
Waking up at 6.30AM daily is starting to take its’ toll on me.
Hello eyebags and hello to expected potatoes for dinner.
Waking Up
Classes Began…
One of my regular gums, except that it’s green here instead of white like it usually is back home.
Life here seems to revolve around “what time am I going to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner today?” due to fixed meal times alongside with my daily snack of chewing gum or cashew nuts. Meals seem to revolve around a lot of lettuce too. Then lettuce gets digested walking around.
My desk wall is being currently being notoriously and unforgivingly spammed by sticky notes.
Side note: I have new furniture in Sims 3, my next best friend to Facebook.
Issues #2
Stained glass and sun beams in St. Benedict’s church.
Realized beef flavoured instant noodles just isn’t my thing, shall await spicy instant noodles to be posted here from home. Just found out there is curry Maggi Mee but all the way down in Albany…
Quote dad, “I send the whole supermarket to NZ” after I said I want instant laksa,
Technical Difficulties
Maybe I just don’t know how to operate a dryer or something similar to that but I hit normal high temperature before starting the clothing dryer and everything came out damp and warm.
I don’t own a laundry rack to air my clothing, unfortunately. Now I have clothing everywhere in my little room.
Looped and knotted two leather belts across the room and tada, a laundry line to dry my clothes. Best of all, hangers go through the belt so that the wind does not blow my clothes off the line. Some on the curtain rail as well.
Even doors get clothes hung on.
This is one sad case.
Issues
I cannot find any of my Loreal facial care lines in Auckland!!!
Just a lot of Loreal facial creams!
We had free Subways for lunch today during the Tamaki Campus orientation program. Back home, we get free Ramly burgers during orientation.
Prices
Queen Street in the afternoon
Finally, a printer in my room! Printers are reasonably cheap, I got mine for $54.00 here but ink is crazy expensive at nearly $35.00!
The happiness passed and now I am like, oh crap my own second multipurpose printer.
Yogurt is terribly cheap, $6 for a twelve pack.
Muesli bars are terribly cheap as well, $5 for a ten pack.
Cashew nuts are terribly cheap too, $5 for a 500g pack.
Louis Vuitton is way cheaper too, $980 at duty free price for a medium size handbag.
That was all in comparison to the prices back home in Malaysia.
Overload
Everyday it’s either windy or it’s hot and everyday has potatoes in it.
Another freebie containing condoms again… again.
In just five days, I have already received five freebie condoms.
Life seems to revolve around potatoes and condoms over here. Interesting combo.
Today
Campus tours today and a heck lot of walking. Unfortunately, I couldn’t run away from potatoes. Even my roll for lunch today had potatoes in them. Every meal has potatoes. Even my post now has potatoes in it.
This That
Freebie T-shirt from the residence hall I’m staying at.
Everyone says, “oh you’re going to eat a lot of Western food the moment you get to NZ and grow fat”.
Right…
I’ve been eating nothing but rice since.
Subway does not count.
Neither does chunky peanut butter and marmalade on wholemeal toast.
Furthermore, with the amount of walking I have to do, I doubt anyone who moves to NZ can grow fat unless on binges.
I’ll probably wind up with footballer legs.
Good morning.
Good Morning
View from my room.
Everything here is the same price as it is back in Malaysia except that… it is in New Zealand dollars…
One Stabilo highlighter is near $4.00 just as it might be RM4.00 back in Malaysia…
Looks like one can stop converting currencies mentally over here.
This That
Did some more necessity shopping today from mini bookcases (which I shall convert into a shoe rack) at $10 to lab coats at $50. Pretty much seen a lot of the city, know streets but unfortunately, still hopelessly fuzzy at how to get from street to street. Got a bad sense of direction.
Found what my mum has been asking me to buy home, whatever this kiwi bird thing is.
Maggi mee made for kiwis. Cute.
Hours
Lunch at the airport.
Left Kuching this morning at 9.30AM with my parents, now I have hours to go in KLIA until 9.35PM to catch a flight to Auckland. That’s twelve hours of airports in Malaysia.
Last
For one last night of home and then it’s time to go where university life begins and something old awaits.
Although soon enough comes November and it’ll be time to come home again. Good thing that happens.
Awesome Friends
It’s good to have a bunch of great friends like these, we’ve known each other since primary school and secondary school. This how we spent Valentine’s, karaoke and a lot of photographs.
A more formal photo of us. Amy, Linda, Siw Hua, Michelle, Rhema and Cheryl. Clarrise left before we started taking photos.
Oh gosh, they surprised Michelle and I with a cake since both of us would be leaving to New Zealand this Wednesday. How touching! I think it’s a chocolate cheese cake.
First time I attempted camwhoring with a full camera set, oh gosh, my arms nearly broke and end product wasn’t too good either.
Thank you, all the good time spent today and the good old waaaaaay back. Hopefully, we still have good times like this in time to come. All the best with STPM results this coming Monday.
Gift Unboxed
Life packs gifts in interesting packages, often a surprise and are found in the most queerest places like at debate competitions and at church.
Yesterday, today and everyday tomorrow would not have been if it weren’t for rocket science and toxic fumes half a decade ago. Happy Valentine’s.

Deathbed
Less than a decade old. Why is this picture so grainy?? =(
Right.
Did I mention that my Yamaha piano is currently under attack of termites and fungus despite the heater being turned on the whole time?
News from Yamaha, they’re sending a brand new piano, a newer model, as replacement. Free of charge, shipping and all. Shall arrive in about six to seven months.
Currently, I’m hooked on the piano instrumental version of “你不知道的事”. It plays repeatedly from my speakers.
Just end of last year, I bought a navy blue cardigan from Zara. I thought it was just regular synthetic fibers or the best it could get was probably just wool. To my surprise, it’s made from angora rabbits.
A dead bear in a bag, complete with a tag. Lame joke.

Outlook
In full bloom, that’s the outlook on life.
Old hometown friend in Russia is travelling to VIENNA. VIENNA! Benefits of staying near Europe. Here I am, heading South in three days’ time, to a place with no Baskin Robbins ice cream and MNG outlets, two of my staples apart from ZARA and O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich shop. On the bright side, looks like I’ll grow skinnier, have a fatter purse and burry my nose more often in books.
Good news is that I’ve been shifted down to the 9th floor in O’Rorke Hall. So now I’m floormates with some of my JPA classmates.
Suddenly I have an itch to bake but my parents have banned me from baking unless it’s a butter raisin cake.
Chasing
Pocket watch in dad’s trophy cabinet.
Time seems to be hot on my heels and age is catching up.
Pwned by time indeed with only four more days to go before going off to a new place with several familiar faces.
What’s In…
Again.
What’s happening today?
Dad’s birthday is today. Off for good seafood.
Apart from that, found out that I will be staying on the 10th floor in O’Rorke Hall as well as I woke up at 3.37PM today.
Today
Something that hangs on the wall at a place called home, a house seventeen years old.
Something that reminds of five years of ups and downs.
Something that is true, another of my favourite quotes.
The day is yet to start but it feels like a good one is ahead.
PS: Hansley, your silver lining in every cloud is right there.
