Synopsis of 2008

Happy New Year everyone. I have nothing much except for pictures of food from New Year Eve celebration so here's a flashback of the year 2008.

2. Came down with a fever, sore throat, cough and flu during SPM with "thanks"to my dad.
3. Admitted to Timberland Hospital at 6.00AM before SPM Biology (low blood pressure).

THE PEOPLE I'VE KNOWN
A few the few best people I've gotten to know.

4. Big sis is working as a doctor in Sibu Hospital.

Observations

From an aunt.

Drove pass some area at Kampung Gita to look for Claire,
I saw a Malay food stall that sells Chinese food.
They have...

1.Cantonese Fried Noodles
2. Char Kuey Tiaw
3. Kung Fu Char Kuey Tiaw

I am ###% Chinese but I have never tried Kung Fu Char Kuey Tiaw before.

Then somewhere along Satok Road, there was a white Perodua Kancil in front of me that has a sticker saying "Sterilize Stupid People" on the back windshield. I was thinking, "sheesh, this must be a stupid Ah Beng" and then my car overtook the Kancil. What the ---. It was a wrinkled and balding old Malay Ah Pek. Life on the road will never be the same again.

Yesterday, I received a belated Christmas present from Jonas and the present came along with a very "Christmassy" and "artful" piece of "artwork" as shown above. His declaration.

New Year Eve dinner tonight and I've just peeled like five dozens of onions of all sizes.

Driving Talk

Woke up at 7.00AM today to get ready for the six hours long driving talk. Instructor came by my house in his Mercedes-Benz at 8.00AM. Then he picked up two other boys and drove us to the institute.

I met Siw Hua and Azfarina at the institute. Luckily this time I had company. I sat with Siw Hua during the talk. The talk started at 9.50AM. The man giving the talk gave us a half an hour break at 10.50AM. But it ended up as a one hour break and resumed again at 11.50AM. The man finished his talk at 12.15PM. He rounded it off with some stupid flash movie until 12.30AM. So much for six hours.

Instructor shipped Boy I off to Parkson, a girl off to her home, Boy II off to his friend's house and finally me back to my home.

My very first driving lesson will be this coming 2nd January 2009. Not very excited.

Christmas Eve

It's in the wee hours of Christmas and a very merry Christmas to whoever who laid eyes on this sentence. Somehow I don't seem to feel much of the Christmas spirit this year. My dearest sister couldn't make it back for Christmas this year. Working on a Christmas day in the hospital, on call in the orthopedic ward. That's life for a doctor working in a government hospital.

Anyway,

What I Did On Christmas Eve
  • Wake up at 10.00AM and have breakfast at a coffee shop nearby Sarawak Plaza (bumped into Norman and his friend, and apparently they won diamonds at a lucky draw)
  • Browse through Sarawak Plaza and Tun Jugah (stale)
  • Visit the Body Shop at Parkson to stock up supplies (things there look nice)
  • Have Christmas Eve dinner at Top Spot (seafood tastes good as usual)
  • Attend Christmas midnight mass at Blessed Sacrament Church (came back at 2.00AM)
  • Hope
Ya, I stopped gaming for Christmas Eve. I've gotten pretty bored of gaming after having fun killing my character over and over by firing shots at gas tanks.

Gabrielle is heading off to bed.

Gaming, Dinner

Cousin and her parents

Lots of noisy karaoke at full blast. It was a typical Chinese wedding dinner. There was lip-locking too. Now that's Western. Dinner was just boring because the music was so loud, nobody around the table could communicate. Lots of bright colours too for decoration. Lots of Ah Bengs and Ah Lians too. What more can I say?
A dinner shot.

Dad's on Christmas leave so we had lunch at Grandma Bak Kut Teh shop and then he drove me over to a computer game store since I had been complaining about having nothing to do at home. I picked out Alone In The Dark (apparently I am outdated at computer games too but that's not the main point of this post) and now I am sitting in front of the computer, waiting for everything to be installed. I hate installation processes. Such a long wait. Then, I played one episode of Alone In The Dark. It's not too bad but my character seems to die a bit too often. I made him walk of ledges, fall off buildings and jump into fires. All accidental.

I Passed!

Driving theory test today. I had a really "kind friend" named S.L who wished me "crash and burn in the test. I already cut out holes in a paper bag for you to wear when you fail". Hmph indeed! My driving instructor told me that I could take the test at 1.00PM and so I arrived at the center at 12.45PM. Turns out, the lady in charge at the center told me that her lunch break ends at 1.45PM!

So, I waited and waited at King Center with my parents over pork leg rice and fish balls. I waited and waited some more while my mother had a chit chat with Sean's mother who happened to be there. My parents dropped me off at the center and turned out the center was locked! The lady was not back from lunch yet and hence, I waited and waited for half an hour for her. She only came back at 2.15PM.

I met my Form 3 Art teacher, Puan Tan at the center with her daughter. My right hand was shaking while I was taking the test. Yes, I was very paranoid about failing this test. I had to key in my IC number six times because the stupid program kept displaying that my IC number does not exist and is invalid.

Click, click, click and I was done after a while. Held my breath in anticipation as the computer slowly loaded the page and whew! I passed! 50/50!

Now I can relax!

Bananas, Tests

There is a very, very tall coconut tree and there are 4 animals.
King Kong, an Ape, an Orangutan and a Monkey pass by.
They decide to compete to see who is the fastest to get a banana off the tree.
Who do you guess will win?

Hungry, hungry, hungry. I woke up at 7.30AM today because my driving instructor wanted me to "study" for the driving computer test. So, there I was from 8.30AM to 9.00AM at his office taking the test. I got 50/50 for that and one of the lady there sat behind me the whole time. The real deal is tomorrow. I pray I get at least 43/50. So "paiseh" to fail.

Studies have shown that females make more careful drivers. Slow as snails. Some. But that's what that gets them listed as lousy drivers. Here's three people who passed had previously aced their driving theory test. Males.

Conversation 1

Gabrielle Jee: I hope I pass the test.
Animus Jogs : I got 50/50.
Gabrielle Jee: Wow.
Animus Jogs: 'cause I smart mah.

Conversation 2
Jail On : Girls never observe road signs.
Gabrielle: -_-"

Conversation 3
Gabrielle: Is the theory test hard?
Rap Entry: No need study also can pass.

Lunchless Human

Picture of the day

Kapeesh. Was supposed to go out for lunch today with a buddy. Unfortunately, lunch plans got canceled. Nevermind, I still have a big cold pastry puff in the fridge. But then I looked into the fridge. My mum stole my pastry puff!!! But it was her money anyway so I guess I have no legal rights over that chicken pastry puff. So, I went to cook myself a meal. Chop, chop the ham and everything. Then I went to light the stove. Kapeesh! No gas! Nevermind, the microwave saved the day. I had a herb-ish, curry and cream dish made using the microwave. Sometimes, you just got to love the microwave when the oven "backstabs" you.

Still have not gone out with my classmates yet. Couldn't make it for the last two outtings. One day. I will make it. Huh.
I miss school and my good buddies there!
And I miss all those Red Crescent stuff and the people too.

Dull & Duller

B.O.R.I.N.G
Woke up at 8.00AM thanks to the courtesy of a phone call. Rhema took her law test today. 46/50. I hope I don't fail. Quote Rhema: "so paiseh if I fail." Then she left to Penang.
I went to Secret Recipe at The Spring. There were houseflies in the pie display shelf. Disgusted, I bought pie from Starbucks instead. RM9.00 for a pie and the government taxed me, so one pie cost RM10.00. But at least it came with a nice paper bag. Pie wasn't so nice.

There's a thing each about a few people that I find amusing:
1. Amy Lynette
The way the laughs. You'll just have no choice but to laugh because she's laughing.

2. Stefan Lim
Ran up to me one day after school with a calculator that says "55379009". (Turn your head upside down to read the numbers.)

3. Rhema B.A
Crime partner in conquering the school bus in 2004 and 2005.

4. Esther Ling
Lots of interesting and fabulous lame jokes.

5. Jonas G
Talks too much about his own ORGAN which he named, "Little Jonas". Disgusting.

Backyard Animals

There was a cat in my neighbor's backyard. It was not a very happy cat.
There were so many mosquitoes biting my legs so I had them smoked.
Then there was a kitten too. A sad little skinny thing.
And there was an ugly bird on the powerline that was washing its' backside but it stopped the moment I snapped a photograph.

Driving Talk

I had a nightmare about forgetting to do my Additional Mathematics tuition homework over the holidays. Apparently I did not complete the Vectors Chapter. What a dream. Then, I woke up at 7.00AM and had my breakfast while waiting for my driving instructor to fetch me.

Around 8.10AM, a metallic brown Merdedes Benz cruised passed my house and then I discovered that my driving instructor was sitting inside the Mercedes Benz. I sort of expected him to drive a Proton Saga. I was in the car together with three other people who were going to attend the talk too and they were at least twice my age.

The talk was not as bad as I always heard it being described. Not that boring but probably because the man giving the talk was quite a joker. He's a Bumiputera but he speaks Hokkien and rather often too but I found it awfully hard to understand what he was trying to say in Hokkien. He compared driving to marriage and said that they're the same thing. I went alone to the talk because I couldn't join my friend on Saturday, so I ended up sitting next to some Malay boy who smokes. Apparently the Malay boys knew a lot about cars, driving and road laws. I skipped lunch.

Now, I should probably read all those books they gave just for the sake of passing the law test.
PS: Stefan Lim. Watch out. I'm going to have my license to "kill" soon. Recognize your schoolmate in the photo?

Saturday Outing

I went out on Saturday with a friend to The Spring. Was supposed to have lunch at Secret Recipe but unfortunately, every single table there was seated. Sucks. There goes my shepherd's pie. So, had lunch at Food & Tea instead. Ugh. Not one of my favorite places to eat at.I had my all-time favorite green tea and vanilla blend with cream from Starbucks before I left. I suffered no food poisoning but apparently the person I went out with, did. Could food at Starbucks or Food & Tea be contaminated? Fishy...I'm going to head off to Secret Recipe one day this week to have the Chocolate Indulgence that Rhema has been telling me to try. Or maybe the Caramel Cheese.

Cash, Cash & Cash

When I grow up, I want to be rich and famous. Nah. That was just a rip off from some Pussycat Dolls song that constantly gets played on MTV. I just want a good education and enough money to survive and invest.

Can money buy happiness? The old saying says that money cannot buy happiness. I don't think you can buy happiness because it is not sold in the market but money does bring happiness. At least sufficient money does. If you have no money, you'll definitely be thinking about your family and worrying about feeding them and etc. Can't exactly call that happy can you?

Money can buy education. Look at the plenty rich and less gifted Ah Bengs and Ah Liens who can pay hundreds of thousands to do courses like software engineering or worst still, medicine. Then they can afford to fail papers, pay and resit. Then look at those poorer but more gifted human beings who cannot afford 10% of the course fees and end up doing other courses. Please note that I used the word education not knowledge.

Funny thing is that education doesn't necessarily "buy" money. I can know 1+1=2 and that's not necessarily going to drop cash into my bank account. How I wish some crazy billionaire would suddenly give me one million for my education.

Money cannot buy health but can treat health. You could be rich or poor and healthy. That has nothing to do with money. But, you could be rich or poor but sick. Let's say two people of different financial statuses have cancer and don't talk about government medical aid. The rich could probably afford all the treatments, whatever herbal remedies and additional "anti-cancer food" while the poor probably can't afford to spend that much and can just get whatever he can get.

Can money buy love? Maybe not? But who knows? There are plenty of couples who divorce over money issues. This is the 21st century after all. Hmmm... that's a question to be answered by that rich and old Playboy billionaire. I forgot his name.
I had a sudden craving for apple pie last night at 11.35PM. So my parents and I decided to drive over to Hilton Hotel to look for pie. Sadly, there was no pie left except for those mini pies in the above picture. Even more depressing, they're not very tasty (some fruity berry pie) and cost RM12.40 for four mini pies. Money doesn't necessarily buy tasty food.

Reading & Artwork

Received a Christmas gift today. Enough said about that. It was the book I intended to buy when I was flipping through The Quill. From the picture in The Quill, I thought the ribbon was part of the book cover, as in a print-on but turned out it was an actual ribbon. Fancy that!
Ceceilia Adhern's books are rather annoying. Some of her stories are rather dumb. Nevertheless, her book covers are always so nice that I just can't resist buying them and displaying them in my bookshelf for the sake of deco.
Christmas Wish List
  • *private and confidential concerning academic goals* [PRICELESS]
  • Prayers to be answered [PRICELESS]
  • Awesome grey leather handbag spotted at The Spring [RM265.00]
  • Shepard pie from Secret Recipe [RM7.40]
  • To be remembered and to remember [PRICELESS]
I personally think that those people who have the money to pay for their higher education learning particularly for the field they are interested in, are terribly lucky be it if they have the brains or lack the brains. There are plenty of those deserving ones out there who want to pursue a particularly course but by a slip of fate or luck, missed that chance.
This was what I created today out of art paper.

Holiday Interest

It was 4.00AM in the morning, I was watching Hana Kimi (the Japanese version) and reading about simple conjugated proteins in some magazine, I drew the above just because of because. Then today, I had nothing better to do besides reading about colloid formation and waking up at 1.00PM, so I did some scanning and a little bit of digital colouring using Photoshop.
Now, I am off to getting ready for dinner. Dental appointment on Saturday and driving lessons this Sunday!

Ashley's Birthday

Went to Ashley Lee's (he's the guy singing Happy Birthday to himself in the picture above) birthday party cum farewell at Sarawak Club just now.
Anyway, Happy Birthday to him.
Very interesting party.
Guys popping helium balloons and breathing in helium to sound squeaky.
Met a couple of interesting people too and heard a hmmm...Lodge School song with a beat to it. A shot with my Additional Mathematics buddy, Franklin who spent more time listening to music and gaming than doing Additional Mathematics in class. He's going to do culinary arts! That means I shall get free meals. FREE OF CHARGE FOOD.Apples for everyone. Quote the birthday boy,
"apples are very expensive you know!"

Steamed "butter" cake

I baked a cake yesterday night for the first time in my whole life.
I'm not a baking, cooking person and I don't like chocolate cakes.I bake the above chocolate cake. NOT.I made this. Together with my dad.
Traditional Chinese steamed egg cake.
Except for the fact that my dad puts melted butter so it's softer.
I think that makes it a steamed butter cake.P's leaving to Australia in January.
RICH PEOPLE.

Ah Lien

I had a haircut yesterday.
I cut my hair Ah-Lien styled and dyed it blonde with pink highlights.
Then the hairdresser added some green and blue lowlights.
Finally I did it.
Then I also went to get green contact lenses.
I've been Ah Lienified.
And I was once so normal looking.
With the blue ribbon.
