Leaving Today

PinkI decided to organize my mobile phones by buying one of those that are big enough to fit two phones. Last minute shopping. I regret getting a light pink one though because it would get dirty fast.P1000211 Pies that Franklin gave with the claim that after I consume all that yucky medicine, I have to consume tasty food like pies. I think Chinese physicians classify pies as “toxic” food? But they were delicious.P1000221And SOMEBODY decided to surprise me before I leave to college by “borrowing” my calculator and then spraying it pink and bling-ing it. Interesting. I never had anything bling-ed before. Now it seems like I own more and more pink items.P1000212My suitcases are packed and I am all set to go. I would like to pack my piano with me and as for my blog, it might not get updated as frequently but it won’t die.

I skipped the Yayasan award ceremony yesterday morning just to make one last trip to my skin specialist over my allergies. Seems like my urticaria cleared up today just like the old lady at the chinese medicine shop said it would… or perhaps it was the modern medicine… or perhaps it was that Holy Novena that apparently never fails… hmmm… who knows?

I Skyped with Perry and I found out that he’s planning on growing his hair long. Shocking.

Oh and since I won’t have internet service temporarily for quite sometime to do a birthday post, Happy Birthday in advance to Stefan Lim. So here’s a Birthday tribute to you in advance…

1. You owe me dumplings!!!
2. Go learn how to wake up late.
3. Thanks for sparing your ears all the time. ^_^V13052009769

Traditional vs. Modern

I was supposed to go out with Franklin and Stefan for Xiao Long Bao dumplings hunting spree at Mitsu, Tarot and some other place (I forgot what where was the place) at 8.00AM this morning. Unfortunately, I had a urticaria relaspe at 2.00AM so I bailed out on them.

I was on Loratadine, Prednisolone and topical Fluticasone Proprionate (Cutivate) for five days. From my own observation, Loratadine and Prednisolone only seemed to suppress the inflamation. However, Cutivate does work miracles and the redness goes away pretty fast but that only seems to work for the face. Other parts of the body, after the redness subsides, there would be a faint shade of purple. Almost like bruises.

So I ranted to the Old Ones (also known as my grandmothers) and Grandmother 1 gave me a packet of Xia Gu Cao tea while Grandmother 2 asked me to take Lemon Balm plant baths.

Honestly, I have never believed in traditional Chinese medicine but I doubt that too much modern medicine for a continuous length of time is good either. So oh what the heck, I shall just give alternative medicine a try.

I had a whole pot of burdock water to myself yesterday, the purple bruise-like marks completely.  O.O

Urticaria disappeared as well but like I previously said, it relapsed.

Then, Aunty 2 recommended that I pay a visit to this traditional Chinese medicine shop at Jalan Padungan. Apparently her son had urticaria recently and after taking traditional Chinese medicine, it was fine the next day and the many days that followed. O.O

My dad took me to the shop this morning. The old lady there scrutinized me and then, came up with a concoction of liquids and powder. So I will conclude after several hours if traditional Chinese medicine or modern medicine works better to cure urticaria. This is so ironic coming from a student like me who’s preparing to study modern medicine.

And that old lady who is about 80 years old, she has no wrinkles at all, no liver spots at all, really fair and huh, has complexion better than those you see on the Elizabeth Arden commercial billboards. I wonder what she eats and uses everyday… O.O

Courtesy Calls

Today I realized that I have been so irritated with XXX all the time that I just can't feel pissed anymore. It is like I have developed an immunity.

"Oh ya.. and not even a single congratulation from Gab but then i dun expect her to do so, its a courtesy," said XXX on Thursday who got XYZ Scholarship.

Bullshit and bullshit again, I didn't even know that XXX got XYZ Scholarship on Thursday.

Then again, when I got my JPA scholarship, what did Miss "Courteous" XXX say to me?

"Good..."

Haiya, some human beings. It is like they give you problems and expect you to give them diamonds in return. Cut me some slack.

Come on lah, you want me to be courteous? Here's me being very prim, proper and courteous.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU FOR GETTING A SCHOLARSHIP.

Looks like God has entrusted you to handle all of His loved ones' treasures. Oh do not worry about the hardships that you are bound to face because it is now all so clear that it is God's plan for you to study finance. God knows that the best career pathway for you in your wonderful life is the finance career.

My last piece of advise for you in life is to smarten up to not test my patience.

Ya, so once again. Congratulations.

Oh and today, I ate a Spicy Chicken McDeluxe.

Drugs, Michael Jackson

*Beep beep!* goes my Nokia N95 8GB while I was on my way to the skin specialist at 7.15AM.
”Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest” says Mum.

My urticaria worsened over the night, angry red welts all over my legs, arms, hands, feet, waist and back.

“Doesn’t look so bad leh,” said Frankie at 7.00AM when he dropped by to borrow a calculator and saw my calamine-covered arms. Oh, just how dot…dot…dot…

At 7.30AM, I hear on the radio… “Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest.”

Skin specialist gave me loratadine and prednisolone. Did you know that prednisolone is banned under the WADA anti-doping rules because it is a glucocortisteroid? I guess it’s true what Stefan always tells me that I am drugged. This reminds me of some fake doping drug Amy made up in her examination essay.

*Beep beep!* goes my Nokia N95 8GB again while I was in the car on the way to the lab.
”Michael Jackson is dead!” says Perry.

Then, I went to get a urine test done. I hate collecting urine. I think it is a torturing process especially when my bladder isn’t even full. Okay, too much details.

I had sio bee and a cup of warm Milo at a nearby coffee shop after that. After I took my medications and applied topical corticosteroid, I slept for 5 hours straight. When I woke up, aha, my urticaria improved by a lot. Just faint red patches on certain areas of the body now.

Then, I had Shanghai dumplings for lunch and when I went online…

GABUS!!!! GABBY!!! MICHAEL JACKSON DIED!!!! I’M GOING TO WEAR BLACK TO GRIEVE!!!” said Amy.

”Not hyped up over the death of Michael Jackson?” said Stefan.

I think Michael Jackson literally threw away his life though. All that excessive skin-bleaching and plastic surgery. Imagine up waking up to face the mirror everyday, seeing the disaster you have inflicted upon yourself.

Urticaria and Rants

I developed urticaria and once again, I have no idea what’s the allergen. At first I thought I was bitten by some swarm of mosquitoes but later I came to realize that it was an allergy. Learning from experience, I had to muster every ounce of discipline to not scratch and all that itching made me wake up at 4.00AM today to surf through Facebook and catch a brief chat with Perry.2482177040_ff621053e5I think people who inflict dermographic urticaria upon themselves are quite sick in the mind. I mean, you think getting urticaria is so fun ah? It is like… “hey cancer looks very cool to have!”

Anyway, I got ripped off (only he knows what I am talking about and this other he too) but not that is hasn’t happened before anyway. All I can say is…ah cowpoop and shrug it off. P1000197The Nokia 1203 phone... the Nokia 1203phone...
The motherboard died, so my dad bought me the Nokia 2630 to replace it since I needed a phone for my sub line. I think it looks quite nice for a reasonably cheap phone, I’ve never owned a white phone before.

New Theme: Signature Header

Untitled I bet some of you are thinking…

“Wtf! Why is her blog super pink!”signaturecatChill.

It WAS super pink.

I guess after much tweaking and work, I still prefer my grey theme. I think it looks more professional. Haha!

But for a change, I’ll just leave this theme on for now until I feel like switching back to the grey theme.

News

Good news:
Looking forward to Christmas or maybe Chinese New Year. Last year’s Chinese New Year Eve was quite an unpleasant memory. I told my dad no need to buy me lunch today and I successfully cooked Cantonese fried noodles today with cabbage and prawns. I am so proud of myself. ^_^V

Disgruntled bad news:
The Nokia 1230 that I bought, officially died. I took it out of my handbag and saw that the screen was blank. It won’t charge up and neither can it be switched on. I took it back the the Nokia shop at The Spring. I only had that phone for ten days…

Ticking news:
6 more days left in town.

Linda said that her head was present at our gathering last week, I decided to help her find her head and I found it.linsoon

Clean Up, I.C

P1000170

I used to wear a ribbon in my hair nearly everyday in primary school and secondary school. Gavin Wu said they look like dead leaves in my hair. Perry Tan said it was like I had a beacon on my head. Untitled-1So, now that school has ended… I decided to recycle my ribbons and tied a ribbon around each clothing hanger in my closet.Untitled-2 I tidied up my room and arranged all those things that I won’t be bringing over to Sunway University College next week. So many things left and unfortunately, my suitcases are already too full.P1000167 I wore this T-shirt to collect my new Identification Card. I realized the irony of wearing a T-shirt proclaiming “I Love London” to collect a Malaysian Identification Card at the registry.P1000180 I look like some sort of blur banker/clerk with a too white skin tone in my new I.C photo. Well, at least it beats my old I.C photo taken when I was 12.

Words of Wisdom

Gabrielle:
I wish I can export my house to KL. My bed, my bathroom. My bed is comfortable. export gas stove. Oh export part time maid also, export washing machine too. You know lah, technology saves time. Oh...air conditioner...piano...toaster…microwave...oven...

Chun Hoe:
Not practical la wei~~

Negative Growth

First, my height was 168cm…
At Kuching Specialist Hospital, my height was 166cm…
Today at Dr. Simon Wong’s (a gastroenterologist) clinic, I was 165cm…

I must be experiencing a negative growth spurt.
I received a Hepatitis B booster shot today and shit, I really hate Hepatitis B vaccination whether just a booster shot or the 3 shots. Any upper arm injections are always the worse.

Nurse: Not much flesh on your upper arm eh. I felt the needle touch your bone.

Next, I am supposed to get a flu jab. Shit. So MANY needles.

Anyway, here is an interesting article to read. It’s about Dr. Joseph Mengele, one of the most hunted of Nazi War Criminals.

An Afternoon Out

Despite the eczema on the left jaw line area of my face, I met up with some friends at The Spring today. I’ll just let the photos do most of the talking.P1000135 We all met up at Sugarbun.
P1000136 copy They dared me to try on the ugliest possible outfit in Factory Outlet Store. Mind you, the skirt was entirely sequined. So Geylang. That’s what I will be wearing on my first day in Sunway College.P1000139Basically, we went around shopping. There was kind of a buzz going on about taking photos of a G-string to show to Esther since she had no idea what it was. Anyway, MNG has a up to 50% sale! Got so many nice tops but unfortunately it’s quite pointless for me to buy them since they’re not very practical for college.P1000140Another group shot. This picture looks so colourful. I look a bit like a Japanese ghost or those Chinese opera ghosts.

Eczema: Thought it was “mushrooms”

I was itching like mad yesterday on the left cheek, neck, arm and stomach. Oh, I was bloody red too and I thought, “do I have some sort of fungal infection?? This is seriously one heck of a very itchy, very bad case of fungal infection if so…”

I went to show my dad, who said, “have you not been washing your face? People normally do not get fungus on their face.”

Totally redundant question. Not washing face=bad case of acne. Who wants that? Certainly not vain pots like me.2365_69571242626_801472626_2188166_3030531_n It all itches and even itches more when the wind blows. So I stayed cooped up in air conditioned rooms the whole day since the heat made me itch even more. That’s why I couldn’t go out today with Cordelia and the rest this afternoon because my mum insisted that I’ll irritate my skin even more. How depressing. 9 MORE DAYS LEFT IN KUCHING!

After my parents came back from work, they took me to my skin specialist. Unfortunately, his clinic was closed. So, we went to our family general practitioner (G.P) for temporary relief.

The G.P got brainwashed by me I supposed, that I have a fungal infection and an allergy reaction to the anti-fungal cream. The GP’s advice was simply to wash and scrub cleaner.

G.P’s word of wisdom:
“Just use Lux soap. Like me, hair also wash using Lux soap, face also wash using Lux soap, body also wash using Lux soap. Not like the ladies ah, hair must use shampoo, then got facial cleansers and this and that.”

I’m beginning to think that all males just use one soap for head to toe. So far I know 4 males who do so… my dad, my sister’s XYZ and Rich-Brat-In-Australia and my family G.P. I’m betting that some of my readers (males) do the same thing too.

Me: Rich-Brat-In-Australia doesn’t even have a SINGLE pimple. That’s so unfair.
Sis: Neither does XYZ. Furthermore head to toe use just one soap.
Me: Eh that’s what Rich-Brat-In-Australia said too.
Me + Sis: *exchanges =_=” expressions*

So my dad took me to one of my skin specialists this morning, Dr. Dominic Songan. He took a look with a big magnifying glass and declared that it wasn’t fungal infection at all. In fact, it was eczema.

Bla bla bla about my skin being very dry so I am likely to get skin irritations from time to time so on topical corticosteroids and a temporary cleanser. Then, I went to have delicious kolo mee at Sister Cafe.2591567782_0ec2470958_o

I Worked: Somewhat

I finally went to work this afternoon but I don’t get paid for what I do. Basically, I did some virtual renovation without the property owner knowing. Since I was in quite a tad bit of a grey mood thanks to a “Immune System Crash” (2nd degree on my personal scale), I decided to throw every single colour into my work. I still have to return to the hospital tonight for a reading. Clinic trips will be over the weekend for more tests and injections.

Now that I am done with work, I am jobless again. “Graping” as Rhema calls it.

Get it? Meng-anggur-ing in Bahasa Melayu. Anggur=Grape. Lame joke, I know.UntitledMy POV: During my days of lounging around on the couch, I found out that “Howie Do It” is actually amusing while “The Duke” is quite a weird talk show.

Shell Scholarship

Sleeping_poshi_cat_2_by_kayjensen 7.00AM… my “Ah Ma/Ah Pek” Nokia phone rings. I thought it was my alarm (even though I didn’t set the alarm this morning) so I slapped at my phone for the “off” button. Then my phone went silent and I went back to sleep.

7.05AM… my mum was yelling to wake up, Rhema needs to talk to you now. I dragged myself out of bed to answer her call. Now I’m awake and hungry.

So here’s the good news, Rhema got the Shell Scholarship (congratulations Rhe!) and she was at the Shell rehearsal and event. Apparently Rhema called because I was supposed too today because my name was listed too but I didn’t know about it.

I am sort of amazed that I got an offer. I thought I really screwed up the Shell Scholarship interview. I mean, I was babbling about global companies and the only thing I know about global companies is that they are global. When I left the Shell House, I was thinking… “what the hell”  to myself.

Apparently Shell gives a certain sum of money for any pre-university course at any place of choice.

Well, it’s good news but I’ve made up my mind to take the JPA Scholarship though.

Today is a very good day. Not only that Rhema got offered by Shell, somebody else finally grew a heart.

I believe that I owe Perry some gratitude (that I got offered by Shell) since he helped me with my “Why Petroleum Engineering?” essay for my application. Major correction, he narrated and finally resorted to writing it out because I couldn’t keep up with his speech speed. I edited.

Food and…Hospitals…and Disasters

P1000106I had these piggy baos for breakfast. I think they are awfully cute. Shame they haven’t got a curly dough tail. Almost too cute to be eaten.P1000114I baked egg tarts today for the first time in my life. Another improvised baking success to add to my personal record. One thing about baking successes is that… it all goes out of one end of the body and down the loo. Not much dignity.P1000122 I went to the hospital to get Mantoux Test done at Kuching Specialist Hospital at 12.20AM this morning. Argh. More needles stuck into me. I have to return to the hospital on Friday at exactly 12.20AM to get my test measurements done. See the black writing? The nurse did that…with a PERMANENT MARKER PEN. P1000123As you can see in the picture above, the nurse circled around the injected area and wrote down the date and time of the injection. I am debating mentally whether to wear long sleeves each time I go out for these few days or enjoy the limelight of strangers ogling at my arm. It’s like I’ve got a manufactured date/expiry date/convict number branded across my arm. ^_^VP1000117  I did some origami to kill time and… I gave up towards the end because the folds got too complex for my low origami skills. As you can see…or perhaps not… one was supposed to be a cat and one was supposed to be a unicorn. I call my “artwork”… FUTURISTIC THINGS.

Friday & Saturday

Fantastic Dreams
First I dreamed I fell off a shopping complex and died. Then I dreamed I got damn pissed while arguing with person XYZ and was complaining to Amy about it in my dream. Then I dreamed that I was in a car filled with punks while my neighborhood caught fire.

What the heck?

Medical Report
I went to collect my medical report from Kuching Specialist Hospital, it was the nurse that handed the medical report to me. Frankly, Kuching Specialist Hospital is the worse private hospital I have been to. Where was the doctor to clarify my medical report?

I am no medical personnel, how am I supposed to be 100% certain of what I am interpreting from my medical report? Take for example, my Hepatitis B antigent count. Is 16.3mIU/mL low enough to require 3 more Hepatitis B shots or just 2 more or none? Whatever lah, I know if it's above 10mIU/mL, I don't need booster shots but still, there should be a doctor present to conclude everything.

I was quite annoyed by the lack of hospitality at Kuching Specialist Hospital for the second time.

Health?
The next time you drive along the Choice Premiere 101 road heading to or from BDC area, take note of this clothing store on the second floor. It is next to 688 (that building selling Buddhist statues and altars) and opposite Kamdar. It is a clothing store with a signboard that says, "Negative Ions Clothing, Good For Your Health". Sounds a bit...heh. They even have a website.

Ancient Technology…P1000101
Like I mentioned in my previous post, I now have one Digi number and two Celcom numbers. So I went with my dad to Nokia in The Spring to pick out the cheapest and smallest possible phone for my second Celcom number and we got this, the Nokia 1230 for RM135. It was apparently the latest monochrome screen phone. I never knew they still produce such phones… Now I feel like some sort of psycho person carrying an N95 8GB and this.

Part of a dental trip…P1000095
I went to my dentist to get my teeth cleaned this morning and at the end of my dental trip, she gave me the head of the brush used to polish my teeth. ^_^V

An idiot chewed my old Nikes…P1000097
By idiot, I meant some sort of shoe-eating cockroach living in my shoe cabinet that made a hole through the sole of my old red and white Nike Pegasus. Gave away my old mutated pair of Nike Pegasus and went of to get this bright pink pair. Everything I buy lately seems to be pink. Goodness… I’m catching something that I call Big Sister-itis Disease. Yes, my big sister’s room is entirely pink…

Normal urine has a slight "nutty" odor while urine from starving people has a "sweet, fruity" odor. I got that off a website.

Medical Check Up, Weather, Celcom

P1000078A fifty cent coin-sized dark green bruise appeared after I got my blood drawn

I went to Kuching Specialist Hospital to get my medical check up done two days ago. I had a chest x-ray done, blood and urine test done, my blood pressure taken (my BP at resting state is 116/63) and physical examination. I personally think that the hospitality at Kuching Specialist Hospital isn’t as good as the other private hospitals in Kuching.
P1000060Weather is getting hotter and hotter. I’ve caught a mild sore throat and a fever. It’s been all over the news that the El Nino is going to affect Malaysia around August and the temperature at Perak is estimated to hit 40 degrees Celcius. Looks like things are going to get overheated.P1000071And I have switched from Digi to Celcom. Currently, I have three sim cards and one mobile phone. What a headache. So, I am going to get a second phone, something cheap and probably really ancient.

Early Packing

9140-119AI begin to think that I need a bigger suitcase.

I would have preferred a red suitcase over a black suitcase.

Fat-ass thermal blankets and towels fluffed up two twice their initial size after a fabric softener and detergent wash in the washing machine. They take up practically 50% of the space in my suitcase.

I found out that my sister hijacked my Nike tracksuit and MNG blouse. Apparently, she lost them in West Peninsular.

I think I don’t have enough blouses either or rather I don’t quite like what I have in my cabin-suitcase-filled-up-with-blouses. I guess I will be doing some “light” clothes shopping tonight.

I have 21 more days left in my hometown.

Saturday Business

Went to Kuching Specialist hospital this morning to get my medical check up done. Unfortunately, my parents forgot that it was a public holiday today so I have to come back on Monday.

My dentist accidentally fixed my scaling appointment to be this morning. Obviously, the clinic was not open today and my dentist was not answering her phone.

So, I went to eat Foochow Noodles at a coffee shop nearby my house.

Suddenly, a unknown old man selling ikan bilis appeared. My dad bought a packet of not-so-salty salted fish (what the heck) from the man. Then, he said to my dad in Hokkien, “lu eh cha bo kia chi na li hai” and walked away. (Bad translation from me: Your daughter is very great.)

Who is he? A fortune teller hopefully. =)

Then, I went to get a haircut because my mum complained that my hair was too long. When I got back home, my dad took one look and commented that it looked as if I did not cut my hair. Perry took one look at my hair and also commented that he sees no difference before and after my haircut.P1000053

Tonight, I am going to pick out luggage bags at The Spring. Lots of things to stock up on and pack to Sunway College. So far, I have about 40 things on my list of things to pack.

Afternoon Spent

Was supposed to meet up with Franklin at 10.00AM for breakfast and then head over to The Spring so that I could do some gift shopping for Father’s Day. Unfortunately, I overslept.P1000123

The photographer was too tall that I appear so short and stumpy in this photo taken!

So, I went to do my gift shopping first and was going through bright coloured working shirts in the men’s section. P1000124

In the end, I ended up buying a batik shirt for my dad since he was looking at batik shirts some time ago. Franklin bought the exact batik shirt but in a different colour for his dad too.04062009905

After that, we sat and ate in Secret Recipe to wait for Emmanuel. He brought along Jason (an old  tuition mate of mine in Form 3) and Rachel. Ernest, Nathaniel and William showed up after that. They were discussing some JPA stuff with Rachel since they will be all going to UiTM. Unfortunately for me, none of them are doing the same JPA program like me. Arghhh, where are the Kuching JPA medicine bound AUSTMAT students going to Sunway College??? Hello, hello???

P1000128Basically, I sat in Secret Recipe for 4 straight hours. A new personal record set. I also learned about the Maggi Mee Tree from Franklin. I laughed my head off at it. Seriously… eggs and flour can grow on a tree… and it grows on stalks like apples… according to Franklin’s description… WAHAHAHA!P1000130

 POLANDAUSTRALIAIRELANDRUSSIAINDIAUNITED KINGDOMCZECH NEW ZEALAND

I just received my letter. Finally Post Laju arrived!!!

I will be doing 18 months of Australian Matriculation in Sunway University College and then 5 years of medicine in New Zealand. Leaving on 3rd of July 2009.
