Yesterday afternoon was a short picnic down at Mission Bay, which overlooks Rangitoto Island as seen in the photograph above. Fifteen minute bus ride from the city.

Sand, ocean, splashes of the ocean waves, one of the best environments to be at to relax especially on a sunny day in winter with some snacks.

#38: What’s under that thick navy blue peacoat of mine, pinks, whites and golds. Weather was pretty sunny at 6 degrees Celcius but could get rather chilly after a while especially when the wind blew.IMG_7467

And we made scrumptious smoked tuna with scrambled egg, onions, grated parmesan cheese, slices of edam cheese and lettuce sandwiches on wholemeal bread to pack for lunch by the beach.

Lesson learnt, do NOT attempt to feed A seagull because more and more will approach and swarm around.IMG_7488
Never even attempt to feed the small birds. Feed them and the huge seagulls start swarming.IMG_7549
Some random lady about the age of sixty with really edgy dressing. Leopard print coat and calf-length boots!IMG_7538
Anyway, I just finished reading “The Way We Were” by Elizabeth Noble and I would say that the story was pretty much disappointing with the most drab ending. Basically, it was about some girl who recalls how she fell for some boy back in high school, cheats on him, and they break up. Years later in her mid-forties while she is suffering from some mid-life crisis of fulfilling her role as stepmother with her new partner, cheats on her new partner with her the guy from high school who  is married to some military girl who has to serve in Afghanistan, gets injured in Afghanistan, has to get her leg amputated. Guy from high school was too cowardly to leave military girl, tells main character that they can never be together and never will because he can’t. The end.

Sheesh… what an annoyingly sappy story. Her novel of “Things I Want My Daughters to Know” was so much better.
