Unzipped is Hip

Teachers in Saint Teresa's All Girls Secondary School have suddenly leveled into this new psychological method of getting the girls' to zip up their pinafores by teasing to imply that the girls are too fat until they can no longer zip their pinafores up especially if their pinafores are far too small for their bodies.

"Eh, cannot zip your pinafore is it? Must be you ate too much chocolates during the holidays."

I don't understand why some of the students refuse to zip up their pinafores. Some of them think it's really cool to walk around with an unzipped pinafore. I mean, what would happen if this "don't zip means cool" fashion spreads over to Saint Joseph's Secondary, an all boys school? Would unzipped school trousers be considered the new cool?
